Lorde defends teenagers

LORDE DEFENDS TEENAGERSLorde stood up for teens, especially teenage girls, in a new interview.  Here's why she thinks people worry too much about teenage girls:

"People should stop worrying about their daughters. I don’t see a female without clothing as a terrible influence. There are worse things. Shooting people. Glorifying violence.”

She also spoke about teens in general:

“A lot of people seem to think that all teenagers are super-misguided and not at all ambitious. [But] such a high proportion of the people my age I know are super-driven, super-focused and super-creative in a way I haven’t seen a lot of adults being."

Lorde added:

"You can be as sophisticated and precocious as you want, but you can’t fake experience. That’s what I find endearing about the art that teenagers make. There’s something about that intensity.”

Totally untrue myths about hair

TOTALLY UNTRUE MYTHS ABOUT HAIRThere are tons of myths going around about hair, but a lot of them are totally false! Here are some common myths that lots of people believe...but actually are NOT true.

  • You need to brush your hair a lot. FALSE!

Nope, it actually makes your hair weaker! It can pull out your hair too.

  • You just need the right product to fix split ends. FALSE!

Actually, the only way to get red of split ends is to cut them off.

  • If you pluck out a gray hair, more will grow in in its place. FALSE!

This one just isn't true.

  • If you shave, your hair will grow back thicker. FALSE!

Nope, shaving doesn't affect how hair grows.

  • You can't change your hair texture. FALSE!

Stress and eating habits can make your hair change texture!

  • You should brush your hair from root to ends. FALSE!

Instead, start from the bottom and work your way up.

  • You need to wash your hair every single day. FALSE!

This actually dries out your hair.

  • When you wash your hair, you need to lather, rinse, then repeat. FALSE!

Repeating the steps doesn’t really have any benefit.

  • Trimming your hair makes it grow faster. FALSE!

Just like shaving, trimming your hair doesn't affect its growth.

Summer nail art: Tribal nails

Cute Polish created a new manicure that's just perfect for summer.

You need:

  • Light blue, yellow, and pink nail polish
  • Black and white nail polish
  • A dotting tool
  • A makeup sponge
  • A clear top coat
  • Nail polish remove and Q-tips.

Instructions:

  1. First, paint your nails with a coat of white paint.
  2. Then, grab your makeup sponge. Paint a stripe of blue, pink, and yellow.
  3. Gently stamp this onto each nail. If the color starts to fade, re-do the stripes.
  4. Let your nails dry.
  5. Once they're dry, get your black nail polish and paint on the tribal designs. Use graphic lines, dots, and triangle shapes.
  6. When that's dry, finish off with a clear top coat.

Makeup tips for girls who wear glasses

If you wear glasses, there are a few extra things to keep in mind when it comes to makeup.
MAKEUP TIPS FOR GIRLS WHO WEAR GLASSES

Don't skimp on eyeliner! It helps define your eyes behind the frames.

Define your brows. Use a pencil in the same shade as your hair color.

Use concealer or corrector under your eye and in the crease. Sometimes, frames can make under-eye circles look bigger, so apply a bit of concealer.

Waterproof mascara is your friend. It won't get on your lenses!

Stronger frames = you can pull off stronger makeup.

Don't go overboard and have your makeup so it's overpowering your frames, especially if you have delicate ones.

Try bold lip color. But keep the rest of your makeup toned-down.

Find eyeshadow that looks great with your frames. A rule of thumb – ligther and brighter than your shades is good.

Fun things to do this summer

FUN THINGS TO DO THIS SUMMERSchool is almost over for the year! You've probably still got some last projects to get through, but then it's 3 months of freedom.

So here are some fun ideas for things to do with your summer vacation.

  • Try a new haircut. If you hate it, it has all summer to grow out before school starts!

  • Live stream a concert with your friends. If you can't get to a super cool festival or your favorite band's concert, check to see if they're live-streaming it online.
  • See some of the summer's hottest movies – The Fault in Our Stars, X Men: Days of Future Past, and Guardians of the Galaxy are some of the most popular ones!
  • Have a marathon of a T.V. show you didn't watch the first time around. Netflix has a ton of fun 90s ones! You can try setting up a movie night in the backyard if someone has a projector (you just need a big sheet or a wall).
  • Invite your friends over for a session of manicures and pedicures. You could also go to the mall and get them done.
  • Try a psychic reading for fun!
  • Try stargazing with your friends at a sleepover.
  • Have your friends over for a potluck. Have everyone bring their favorite family recipe.
  • Use your spare time to get in shape. Try out different exercise classes and find one that you like.
  • If you prefer being outside, try a new outdoor activity, like rock climbing, water tubing on the river, or water-skiing.
  • Dress up with your friends and go out to dinner and the movies. Even if it's the same place you guys always go, dressing up makes it feel special.
  • Go to an outdoor concert or sports game in your city. Take a picnic and some friends!
  • Put together a scavenger hunt with your friends (ask your parents and neighbors about this one first!).
  • See if you can get a summer job. Why not use your spare time to make some cash?
  • Try out some new D.I.Y. Projects
  • Have a game night with your family.
  • Print out your favorite pictures from this school year and make a scrapbook.
  • Practice a new instrument or language. There are tons of tutorials on YouTube!
  • Write someone an old-fashioned letter, or write a creative story just for you.
  • Keep a journal or start a blog about your life (ask your parents first if you want to blog).
  • Have a day out at an amusement park with your friends or family, even if it's just mini golf.
  • Organize your room and your closet. Bonus: your mom will be happy about this too!
  • Of course, hit the pool or the beach. It always feels good to be near the water.

Justin is in trouble AGAIN over more racist comments

Justin Bieber may have apologized for the racist video of him making racist comments earlier this week, but now there is a second video of him making even more offensive comments.

JUSTIN IS IN TROUBLE AGAIN OVER MORE RACIST COMMENTSTMZ released a second video of Justin making racist comments. This one is from when he was 14. In the video, Justin sings “One Less Lonely Girl”, only he replaced the lyrics with offensive ones:

“There’s gonna be one less n—r / if I kill you / I’ll be part of the KKK.”

TMZ says that Justin's team knew about the videos. Someone tried to get his team to pay a million dollars to stop it being leaked, but they refused.

They also say that after seeing the video, Usher showed Justin a series of historically racist videos to show him just how hurtful comments like this can be.

Justin and his team have yet to weigh in on the second video. But Justin did post a section of the Bible talking about sinning and forgiveness.

Still, as this is the second video released this week of Justin saying racist things, will fans forgive him this time?

RUMOR: Zayn and Harry had a huge fight

How do Liam, Niall, and Harry feel about the leaked video of Zayn and Louis smoking marijuana came out?

RUMOR: ZAYN AND HARRY HAD A HUGE FIGHT
Well, only they know for sure, but there are lots of rumors about the controversial video's effect on the lads' friendship.

Closer says that Harry, Liam, and Niall had a big discussion with Zayn and Louis because they were upset over the video. Their source says Harry was especially upset:

“They had a dramatic meeting last week and Harry was the first to lash out, telling them they’d messed everything up. But Zayn turned it around on Harry and accused him of only being interested in himself.’

They added that Niall was very hurt by the whole thing:

“Poor Niall has been in tears – he’s worried this could be the end of the band.”

Uh-oh...this doesn't sound good.

Do you think this rumor is true? How would you feel if you were in Liam, Niall, or Harry's shoes?
